Entrepreneurs have many concerns about Boards, especially if it includes independent directors. Larry Persuitti and John Suzukida serve on Boards of several family-owned companies. They will share their insights on a number of topics that Larry Hause designed to help you talk to business founders who are in transition but who may not understand how a Board can help.

Lawrence A. Persuitti
Retired Financial Manager - Manufacturing
Senior Family Business Transition Consultant

After completing his MBA program in accounting and finance from Eastern New Mexico University, Larry’s career started in the computer industry with a local global manufacturer. After 20 years of various finance positions Larry moved on to a family owned global manufacturer, as their Financial Manager.

These unique opportunities opened up many doors to the international business community and collaborating day to day with family ownership and progression toward their roles as new owners. Larry’s passion for working directly with the founders of family owned businesses and the next generations continues. For the past seven years this has been his focus.

Larry serves on the Board of Directors for Lakes Gas, MaxTech, Sargeant Family Holdings and Sargeant Family Investments. He volunteers as the Treasurer and sits on the Board of Directors for Jack’s Basket, a nonprofit organization and is the Treasurer for Trail Ride Family Camp a non-profit organization.

Larry holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Westmar College, an MBA from Eastern New Mexico University, and a Post-Secondary Teaching Certificate from Bethel University.

Larry D. Hause, JD
Family Business Transition Strategist, Attorney, Author
Hause Family Business Transitions, LP

Larry Hause is a nationally recognized family business consultant, attorney and author who specializes in helping owners of family businesses resolve difficult, contentious and seemingly “impossible” transition challenges. He guides entrepreneurs and other owners, as well as directors and managers, through the myriad challenges they face when their businesses are in transition.

As an attorney, Larry understands the legal rights and responsibilities of owners, directors and managers; the tax consequences of changing ownership; and the numerous ways properties can be held and allocated to protect the business and resolve differences among owners.

As a consultant, Larry co-developed the “Balance Point System” that provides a simple, yet effective way to solve transition issues whenever a founder wants to change how he or she is involved with the business or when the plan is for ownership to be passed to two or more individuals. This system provides a framework to balance the primary issues involved with every transition: power, money and personal relationships.

Larry also formed The Board School, America's first school on boards for business owners, their directors, and top executives. The school is a hands-on, interactive study that provides practical solutions to resolve the complex ownership, governance, and management issues that exist for businesses in transition.
