Nick Adamy
Adamy Valuation

Nick Adamy is a Managing Director and the President of Adamy Valuation. He has extensive experience providing valuation, financial advisory, and expert witness services to private and public companies, business owners, corporate finance executives, investors, trustees, and attorneys for a variety of purposes.

Nick has advised clients on transactions and cases involving mergers & acquisitions, shareholder stock purchases, initial public offerings, leveraged buyouts, shareholder litigation, estate and gifting, divorce, commercial litigation, and employee stock ownership plans. He has worked with companies ranging in size from under $5 million in revenues to over $4 billion across a broad swath of industries.

Nick has spoken at multiple NCEO National Conferences as well as regionally and locally on the topics of business valuation, ESOPs, succession planning, and family businesses. In addition, Nick has testified in depositions and at trial for both business valuation and economic damages matters.


Melanie Fisher Doyle
Van Meter

Melanie serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Van Meter Inc. a regional electrical distribution company with over $400 Million in sales, with branches throughout the Midwest, supporting projects nationwide.  

Prior to joining Van Meter, Melanie spent 20 years in various finance and accounting operation leadership roles at Aegon Asset Management (“Aegon”), a global asset management and investment firm. This included direct responsibility for managing the operations and financial performance of a portfolio of real estate and commercial loan assets in excess of $14 Billion. Prior to that, Melanie practiced law as in-house counsel at Aegon, working on large, real estate acquisitions and real estate lending transactions, on a national basis. This also included supporting Aegon corporate merger and acquisition teams.

Prior to in-house practice, Melanie was in private law practice focusing on business and real estate matters, including business acquisitions, business workouts, collections matters, and commercial litigation. Melanie clerked as a law clerk in the United States Bankruptcy Court, Norther District of Iowa.

Melanie has also served on the Board of Directors of the Fisher Group, Inc., a commercial printing and mailing business, owned by her family and headquartered in Hiawatha, IA, for over 20 years. 

Melanie graduated from Luther College in Decorah, IA, with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, the University of Iowa, College of Business with a master’s degree in Business, and the University of Iowa, College of Law.  Melanie was an assistant editor, for the Journal of Corporate Law, at the University of Iowa, College of Law.


Hillary Hughes
Prairie Capital Advisors

Hillary Hughes joined Prairie Capital Advisors in 2011 and is a shareholder in the firm. She provides strategic insights to assist business owners and boards of directors to address long-term ownership transaction goals. Hillary has been highly involved in the structuring and valuation related to employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) on behalf of ESOP Trustees as well as business owners. Hillary provides financial advisory services to clients ranging from small family-owned businesses to large multi-national conglomerates. She specializes in the valuation of businesses and business interests for purposes of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), ESOPs, gift and estate planning and strategic planning. Hillary is also instrumental in developing Prairie’s trust-side ESOP practice.

In addition, Hillary is a frequent speaker in forums around the country on topics including valuation, ESOPs and ownership transition planning. She is a member of The ESOP Association Valuation Advisory Committee and is the immediate past president of the Iowa/Nebraska Chapter. She was awarded the Membership Recruitment Award to a Professional Member from The ESOP Association for her efforts in driving membership for the association. Additionally, Hillary was recognized as a Top 40 Under Forty Honoree by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) in 2017. She was also a recipient of a 2018 HER Women of Achievement Award presented by HER Magazine. Hillary is active in her community and is a member of the Linn County Conservation Board. In addition, she sits on the board of directors of two private companies, a financial services provider and a distributor. Hillary is a member of the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan Advisory Panel. She is also actively involved in Prairie’s ESOP Committee.

Prior to joining Prairie, Hillary was a Senior Associate for Columbia Financial Advisors, Inc. Her duties included project management and assistance on all aspects of appraisal engagements.

Hillary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Business and Economics from Iowa State University. Hillary currently holds FINRA Series 63 and 79 securities licenses.


Kevin Trieber
Sr. Vice President & ESOP Champion

Kevin is a Senior Vice President in Bank of America’s Global Commercial Bank (“GCB”). He has extensive corporate and middle market banking experience with an emphasis on originating and structuring complex leveraged transactions and executing capital raising solutions for clients employing growth strategies.

During his 25 years with the bank, Kevin has held numerous leadership positions within the west region of GCB’s Middle Market Banking Group. In his capacity as GCB’s Ownership Succession Champion and National ESOP Solutions Advisor, Kevin focuses on driving leveraged finance (origination, structuring & arrangement) and wealth management (estate planning & asset management) solutions in connection with growth, ownership succession, and liquidity and diversification strategies. He also works closely with bank relationship teams to ensure clients, and their associates, have access to the full breadth and depth of banking services Bank of America has to offer including depository, treasury and cash management, asset and liability management as well as personal credit and wealth management products and services.

Kevin earned a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern California with an emphasis in Corporate Finance. An active recruiter at his alma mater, he also serves as a mentor and coach for students in the Marshall School of Business. Kevin has also been active for 16 years as a Junior Achievement volunteer where he teaches JA Programs (“Career Success” and “Personal Finance”) at inner-city high schools in the Greater Los Angeles area. He is a NASD Registered Principal with Series 7 and 63 securities licenses, member of The ESOP Association, National Center for Employee Ownership (“NCEO”) and Employee-Owned S Corporations of America (“ESCA”) where he serves on the Advisory Committee, and Board Chair of Union Station Homeless Services.

Steve Ryan joined Prairie Capital Advisors in 2018. He specializes in new business development initiatives for Prairie. He has over 25 years of new business and banking experience with clients throughout the country. Steve has led commercial banking teams that interact with business owners and C-level executives of private and public companies. Throughout his career, he has acted as a trusted advisor to many privately-held companies to assist them in growth initiatives, business transitions and liquidity events. Steve frequently presents on a variety of topics including ownership transition alternatives, financing ESOPs and capital allocation in a wide variety of venues, such as the National Center for Employee Ownership, The ESOP Association as well as Prairie webinars.
