One of the board's most important responsibilities is to ensure continuity of leadership. Succession planning is central to accomplishing that goal. You will walk away from this panel armed to have tough conversations around succession planning, learn best practices, and have live engaging dialogue with the panelists and in small peer groups.

In this panel you will see and hear experts sharing their advice and stories and details on best practices for Succession Planning both prior to and during a crisis. The panel will dive into the Boards’ duty to understand the skills and competencies of the CEO to proactively plan for succession and they will tackle the tough question of when and how to best to address leadership changes whether they are planned with a defined horizon or unplanned due to crisis.

Since that time, he’s worked throughout the U.S. as a specialist in “Corporate Renewal” for over 300 family owned and privately owned companies.  He’s sat on the board of four family owned businesses and currently is on the board of a federally funded provider of commercial mortgage loans for owner occupied business properties. A well-known author, he’s written for a broad range of publications including The Journal of Corporate Renewal, Family Business Magazine and Commercial Lending Review. He’s also spoken for numerous schools and organizations including The Harvard Business School Turnaround Forum, the  CCR/Babson Institute for Management Solutions, The Family Firm Institute, The Massachusetts Bankers Association and The Risk Management Association.

She held various leadership positions at world-class organizations including JPMorgan Chase, Fannie Mae, Deloitte & Touche and Arthur Andersen.  Nicola is a qualified financial expert with over 20-years of experience providing solutions to clients across multiple industries in finance, accounting, risk management, corporate governance and regulatory environments during times of significant change and challenge. 

Given Nicola’s expertise in risk management combined with her experience leading finance and risk teams through the 2008 financial crisis, she has a proven track record of ensuring the alignment of risk and strategy. She is respected as a credible voice in decision making, finding strategic partners and establishing governance. 

Nicola is Managing Partner at NextKey Services LLC, a firm she founded which provides management consulting services. She partners through understanding the business and a commitment to establishing a business relationship that reflects the truest sense of a partnership. Nicola’s passion for affordable housing has inspired her to manage and continue to grow a residential real estate investment portfolio. 

Nicola volunteers as a mentor in the Million Dollar Women Summit Street Sisters mentorship program where she advises entrepreneurs on how to evaluate and overcome financial challenges in their business.

She has been a trusted advisor during; IPO preparations, multiple M&As, major leadership bench rotations, product & brand pivots, as well as limited restructuring and company dissolution. 

In 2018, Jillian founded her own firm offering leadership coaching using emotional agility and healthy conflict to create results driven cultures.

Jillian is a passionate member of the Boston Startup community.  She is the 2020 Advisory Board Chair for the Boston Admin Awards, she has been a Host Committee Member for the Entrepreneur Games since 2018, and is a Founding member of the Boston Private Directors Association. Jillian previously advised Supplet which was acquired by BumpBoxes

Jillian volunteers as a mentor with BUILD.org, is currently an Advisor for a private Technology start up and seeking new Board opportunities.

Dave has worked at ULVAC Technologies, Inc. in Finance and IT roles for the past 20 years. He done an implementation of Robotic Process Automation to automate accounts payable. He normally travels to Japan about twice per year on average for business at the Japanese parent company.  His career has been an intentional blended Accounting, Finance and IT.

In addition to being a CFO, Dave is a public speaker on Industry 4.0 technology applications.  He speaks a finance conferences, on webinars and write articles on fintech solutions. His goal is to be on board of a fintech company where he could add the most value.

Dave belongs to a many different networking groups like Financial Executives International, CFO Leadership Council, Vistage, and most recently, PDA – Boston.
