An in-person panel discussion focused on board-level ESG consideration generally, with a specific focus on the Energy Transition. Learn how to influence strategic board discussions on institutional and activist investors who are putting pressure on companies to implement ESG strategies, what private boards should do to ensure that the company is adequately attuned to the expectations of its stakeholders and how private board members prepare themselves to discuss this issue in the boardroom. Gina Luna

GP Capital Partners, LP

Gina Luna is a veteran board member, investor, and civic leader. She is a recognized leader with invaluable business insight in each of these arenas. She is a Founding Partner of GP Capital Partners, LP, a private credit/equity fund focused on lower middle-market companies. She is a member of the Management and Investment Committees.

Gina is currently a board member of two public companies. She was elected in December 2020 to the board of Roku, Inc. (NASDAQ: ROKU), where she will serve on the Audit Committee. Roku is a pioneer in streaming TV to consumers in the US and select countries. She is also a member of the board of Tetra Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TTI), where she serves on the Audit and the Nominating, Governance, and Sustainability Committees. Tetra is an oil and gas services company headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas; she has served on the board since July 2018. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Complete Intelligence, a privately held, globally integrated forecasting platform powered by AI.

 

Jennifer Stewart 
Independent Board Member and C-Suite Corporate Officer

Jennifer is a senior energy executive with over 30 years of financial and environmental strategy experience. She is the Chief Sustainability Officer for Penn LNG, a Pennsylvania-based liquefied natural gas export facility that is currently under development. She recently serviced as Vice President Strategic Growth for Baker Hughes (NYSE:BKR) Emissions Management where she led the business and commercial growth for ground and air based methane monitoring and quantification technologies, and assisted oil and gas clients with improving their emissions profile by leveraging best practices in facility design, leak detection and repair, and corporate governance.

 

 

Neil A. Wizel
Managing Director
First Reserve

Neil A. Wizel is a Managing Director with First Reserve, a leading global private equity investment firm exclusively focused on opportunities within the energy value chain. He joined First Reserve in 2007 and has been responsible for investing more than $2 billion of the firm’s equity capital across a variety of investments. As a senior investment professional, he has responsibilities ranging from deal origination and structuring to due diligence, execution, monitoring and exit strategy with a focus on infrastructure and logistics/distribution assets and industrial service and manufacturing companies, many with an ESG/sustainability mandate. Mr. Wizel is a voting member of the firm’s Investment Committee as well as the firm’s Talent Development Committee. He serves or has served on the board of directors of various First Reserve portfolio companies or affiliates and is also currently the CEO and a Director of First Reserve Sustainable Growth Corp, a publicly-traded SPAC focused on solutions, processes, and technologies that facilitate, improve, or complement the ongoing transition toward a more sustainable and environmentally-conscious global energy, infrastructure and industrial complex.

Beyond his investment responsibilities, as a member of First Reserve’s senior management, Mr. Wizel is also jointly responsible for setting the firm’s vision and strategy, developing and managing the investment team, and raising institutional capital and managing relationships with the firm’s LPs. Prior to joining First Reserve, Mr. Wizel was a member of the Investment Staff at Greenbriar Equity Group, a private equity firm with a focus on business services and advanced manufacturing in select industrial sectors. Prior to Greenbriar, he was a Financial Analyst in the Leveraged Finance/Financial Sponsor Group at Credit Suisse First Boston. Mr. Wizel holds a B.A. from Emory University.

Niel Golightly

Niel Golightly is a Senior Counselor at Sard Verbinnen & Company, a global strategic communications firm.

Niel has served as Chief Communications Officer at both Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (now Stellantis) and the Boeing Company. He has also held senior executive roles in global communications, sustainability and energy transition for Ford Motor Company and Shell Oil Company. He began his career as a U.S. Naval officer and carrier-based pilot.

During the first half of this year, he consulted for the Greater Houston Partnership on the Houston Energy Transition Initiative. He has also served on secondment from Shell Oil to the Mayor of Houston in support of the Hurricane Harvey recovery effort, and he has served on the board of the Houston Technology Center and other non-profit organizations.

Niel graduated from Cornell University, completed graduate level coursework at the University of Konstanz in Germany, and completed certificate programs in strategic scenario planning at Oxford and executive coaching at Rice University.
