Overview

The Tampa Bay Chapter of the Private Directors Association is pleased to present a panel discussion on “Supply Chain: Challenges, Impact, and Innovative Solutions”. We have all heard about the many supply chain issues impacting our country. From shortages at the grocery store, to the lack of new car inventory, the issue is a daily headline in the media. Other than the general term “Supply Chain Issues”, how much do we really know about how they start, why they impact daily life and most of all, how does such a complex issue get resolved? Our panelists will offer a discussion of real-life challenges and innovative solutions. Also note, potential board members with supply chain experience and expertise are currently sought-after board candidates.

In addition to this in-depth discussion, attendees will get an “insiders” glimpse of the remarkable and innovative Masonite Headquarters in historic Ybor City. We will meet in the grand and gracious “Livingroom” meeting space which is graced with the latest technology. Light refreshments will be served.

Thank you to our National Sponsors!

David Alexander
Founder
Baysource Global

Having begun working with and sourcing from China in 2002, David Alexander has been instrumental in designing operational and marketing strategies rooted in best in class supply chain decisions for nearly two decades.  He began his career with the Mead Corporation in 1991 leading sales teams in healthcare supplies distribution. In 1998 along with investors he purchased Diamond Products, a $30M private label health and beauty supplier to grocery, mass and drug retailers for rubbing alcohol, peroxide, baby products, lotions and powders. During this time he built Diamond’s contract manufacturing business using excess blending and filling capacity, to one of the top in the U.S. by volume for customers such as Cheesebrough Ponds, Unilever, GSK, and Schwarzkopf Dep.

In 2000 Diamond purchased a portfolio assets (plant, property, equipment) and brands from Gillette including White Rain, Dry Look for Men, Dippity Do, Adorn and Mink Difference. White Rain shampoos and hairsprays were top sellers in the U.S. value price point categories with 100MM+ units annually. Having to develop new packaging solutions for add-on brands, Diamond began utilizing low cost country sourcing initially to reduce costs for tools and product development.  In doing so the organization recognized hundreds of thousands in startup savings on assets (molds) and new product development investment. By 2004 Diamond’s revenues had climbed to $120M+ annually and the company had a successful sale of its private label division to a strategic roll up.

In 2005 with the notion that few if any were providing a U.S. face with Asia sourcing solutions to small and mid-sized companies, David sold his interest in White Rain and established what is now Baysource Global.  For the past 16 years Baysource continues to:

  • Provide crucial pivot strategies that transform companies’ operations, revenue and profit
  • Produce keen detail, sourcing and supply chain solutions to those launching new brands or divisions
  • Guide decision makers on critical make-buy-sell strategies utilizing contract manufacturing partners in Asia
  • Deliver due diligence to Private Equity firms and organizations considering M&A deals

Baysource/David has been featured or quoted in Supply Chain Digest, The Financial Times, CNN Money, and Mergers & Acquisitions. David is an alumnus of The Ohio State University (90), Entrepreneur in Residence at The University of Tampa (2019-present), member of Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) and board member for The Gift of Adoption Fund.
