Prior to McAlan, he was a serial entrepreneur. The most notable company was Murex Corporation, which invented and commercialized the Single Use Diagnostic System for HIV-1 ("SUDS"), which was the first, and for years, the only, product approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) for rapid HIV testing. SUDS became world famous in the medical war against AIDS. Murex became International Murex Technologies, which became a publicly held company, and then was acquired by Abbott Labs.
Other companies which he founded, co-founded, owned or co-owned, include an investment research business whose quantitative work won many industry awards, and two magazine companies: American Visions, the official magazine of the African American Museums Association, and Marlin Magazine, about big game sport fishing

He led AgileThought (AGIL) as CEO and COO in its way to become a public traded entity in Nasdaq, cofounded gA lately sold to Globant, and worked for EY and Goodyear.
He has a Certificate in Private Company Governance by PDA and is a Certified Board Member by the Brazilian Institute of Corporate Governance. He serves in the Advisory Board of dbservices.pt , a Portuguese early-stage technology company and Strategy & Consulting, a Mexican entity.
Originally from Argentina, he lived too in Brazil and Mexico before becoming a Southlake, TX resident with his wife Maria Silvia and their 3 children
