Dennis Chookaszian

Dennis Chookaszian is the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CNA Insurance Companies (“CNA”). He served as CNA’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 1992 until 1999. In addition, he served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of CNA from 1999 to 2001 and from 1990 to 1992 he was CNA’s President and Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for all property and casualty, life, health and investment operations. Dennis joined CNA in 1975 and served as Chief Financial Officer until 1990 when he was named President. Dennis served as Chairman and CEO of mPower Inc., an internet financial advisory service from 1999 to 2001. Dennis served as the Chairman of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAC) which advises the FASB on accounting standards matters from 2007 to 2011. He has served on the boards of over 100 organizations throughout his career and he is currently a Director of three public corporations: CME Group, Perdoceo Education, and Pillarstone Capital. He also currently serves as a Director and Advisor of twenty private companies, and a number of non profit organizations including the national board of the Boy Scouts of America, a trustee of Northwestern University, a member of the advisory board of the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, a member of the advisory board of Kellogg Graduate School of Management, a Director of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and is President of the Foundation for Health Enhancement. Dennis is also a professor at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and teaches two courses in Corporate Governance. He is a CPA (certified public accountant) and a CPCU (chartered property casualty underwriter). He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University, an M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Chicago, and an M.S. in Economics from the London School of Economics.

      

Anne Gates

Ms. Gates was President of MGA Entertainment, Inc., a privately-held developer, manufacturer and marketer of toy and entertainment products for children, a position she held from 2014 through her retirement in 2017. Ms. Gates held roles of increasing responsibility with The Walt Disney Company from 1991-2012. Her roles included Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer for Disney Consumer Products, Managing Director for Disney Consumer Products Europe and Emerging Markets, and Senior Vice President of operations, planning and analysis for The Walt Disney Company. Prior to joining Disney, Ms. Gates worked for PepsiCo and Bear Stearns. Ms. Gates has over 25 years of experience in the retail and consumer products industry. In addition, Ms. Gates has a broad business background in finance, marketing, strategy and business development, including growing international businesses. Ms. Gates serves on the Board of Directors of The Kroger Company and Raymond James Financial, Inc. She is also a member of the Boards of the University of California, Berkeley Foundation, Cadre, Salzburg Global Seminar and PBS SoCal.

She is also a past member and Secretary of the board of Social Venture Partners International, and past Vice Chair of Goodwill of Southwest Pennsylvania board of directors.

Mr. Chris Lee is a partner at FAA Investments, a private investment group focusing on real estate, early stage companies and in-depth research on hedge funds and private equity managers. With home bases in San Francisco and Hong Kong, Chris and his partners allocate capital globally. He is fluent in English and Chinese. Additionally, Chris is a board director with expertise in financial markets, risk management, governance and leadership development. Currently, he serves as an Independent Board Member with Matthews Asia Funds, the largest US Investment Company (’40 Act) with a dedicated focus on Asia Pacific markets. Chris also serves as a strategic advisor for Linqto Inc (www.linqto.com), a Silicon Valley FinTech company enabling “private investing made simple.” Previously, Chris was an investment banker for 18 years, acting as Managing Director and divisional & regional heads at Deutsche Bank AG, UBS Investment Bank AG and Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He worked in global capital markets, managed derivative product development and provided equity sales & trading functions to institutional investors. He is an advocate of sustainable enterprises and environmentally conscious projects, serving on various boards with a passion for promoting education, conservation, energy efficiency and sustainability. Chris also serves on the boards of the UC Berkeley Library, African Wildlife Foundation, Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute and Salzburg Global Seminar.
