There are seven common ownership transitions or exits that pri vate businesses employ. Three of these strategies will be reviewed: sellin g to company executives, employees (ESOP), and third-party companies (acqui sition). A panel of executives will share real-time and hindsight perspect ives on the rationale for the structures their companies selected as well a s the subsequent implications of those decisions on growth and family/found er legacies. The panel will wrap up by reflecting on lessons learned and wh at they recommend participants consider if a board they are on were to expl ore an ownership transition.
