A fter retiring from the U.S. Army in October 2020, Bruce joined Jacobs as th e Senior Vice President for Strategic Development, Growth and Sales in the $5B government-focused Critical Mission Solutions Line of Business. In his most recent role as Chief of Innovation, Chair of the Digital Advisory Grou p and Director of the Global Digital Center of Excellence, Bruce led the co mpany’s global digital transformation and innovation initiatives.
Pri or to joining Jacobs’ Bruce held a C-Suite level position serving as the U. S. Army’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) and senior Information Technology (IT) accountable official, where he performed the duties as the principal enterprise IT and cybersecurity policy advisor to the Secretary of the Army and the Army Chief of Staff. Bruce’s duties and responsibilities also incl uded execution and oversight of the Army’s $15B annual IT budget, the Army' s data and cloud migrations, digital transformation, and delivery of IT cap abilities from the tactical edge to the enterprise at 288 locations in 143 countries world-wide.

Sh e is a frequent writer and speaker on board governance topics, including st rategy, risk, culture, the corporation’s role in society, and board composi tion and effectiveness. Susan is a lawyer and former Fortune 500 executive, with 25+ years in the consumer products industry, including roles as Vice President, Global Deputy General Counsel, and Chief Governance Officer at T he Hershey Company, and Chief Counsel, US Snacks at Mondelez (then a $5 bil lion division of Kraft/Nabisco), where she provided strategic advice throug h a legal lens and led initiatives that protected value and enabled sustain able, global growth of some of the world’s most famous and best-loved brand s. Susan is a member of Women Corporate Directors and has led WCD Thought L eadership Commissions on topics including visionary boards and board decisi on-making. She is a champion of board diversity, and on behalf of KPMG serv es as a member of the Equilar Diversity Network, and drives KPMG’s strategi c and educational support of LCDA (Latino Corporate Directors Association), Ascend/Pinnacle, Quorum, and the Hispanic IT Executive Council, among othe rs.
