Betrayal lurks in the shadows of trust, and the deeper the bond of trust, the greate r the pain of betrayal. Betrayal destroys trust, the foundation of all rela tionships. Of course, without trust, betrayal is impossible. We can never b e betrayed by those we do not trust.
We’re sma rt enough to know that people will always look out for their own best inter ests, but in turn, in organizational settings, we believe others will not o nly place the best interest of the organization above their own self intere st, but will deal honestly and openly with their leadership. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case, as we shall see in this workshop.
Elaine will conduct a highly interactive workshop based on a case study of betrayal at the top. Here, the CEO was betrayed by his lea dership team, who asked the Board to fire him. This workshop will focus on the unique role of the Board in an ESOP and how they handled this betrayal. Through breakout groups, participants will assume the role of the Board in determining next steps in this betrayal. The session will conclude with le ssons about what red flags the Board might have seen and what actions they actually took to protect the company and the shareholders.
