If you are already looking for a good excuse to break your “Dry January" New Year's resolution, please join your fellow PDA Central Time Zone Chapter Members on January 7^th for a virtual wine tasting. The tasting will be hosted by Houston Chapter Member and Vintures proprietor, Thorleif Egeli.

Thorleif became passionate for wine while driving through the Mosel Valley in Germany at age 18 while taking in the beauty of the valley and the tastes of the Mosel Rieslings, ranging from bone dry wines to sweet dessert wines.

Following his studies, Thorleif went into the oil world for 25+ years with travels across the globe, working on 5 continents and living in 9 countries before ending up in Houston, Texas.  During this time, he made many visits to various wine regions, including France, Spain, Italy, Argentina, and New Zealand continuing to expand his wine interest and knowledge. However, his wine passion took a more serious turn when he began collecting wine and making more frequent visits to Napa Valley for various trade events. It was when Thorleif met Steve Reynolds, winemaker consultant, that he finally decided to make his own wine brand, Imago Mundi wines. In 2018, he started a full-fledged wine distribution and import company called Vintures.

Nicole Kawell, professional meeting emcee, will be leading a trivia game to enhance the networking aspect of the wine tasting event. Nicole began hosting weekly trivia nights across Chicago over 10 years ago while forming a non-profit organization. As her popularity spread, she began working numerous corporate events, school fundraisers, and private parties, curating trivia material for each audience. Nicole prides herself on gender and age-neutral content that strikes a balance between pop culture and academics with the ultimate goal of engaging her audience equally and delivering an experience that is both fun and nostalgic.
