Overview

Explore the “behind closed doors” conversations, decisions, and drama of closely held businesses as they establish governance and Board processes.

After hearing from our accomplished speaker, Sean Hutchinson, you will have to decide which of these books he is never going to write:

  1. Ten simple steps to cashing out and enjoying your retirement
  2. Emerging from the shadows: NextGen tribulations
  3. The awkward love triangle in the Board room

This will be an interactive session moderated by Aneta Key with plenty of opportunities to ask questions during the formal program from 5 pm to 6 pm.  As usual, we will then switch to informal conversations to share immediate reactions with fellow PDA members.

Thank you to our National and Gold Chapter Sponsors!

Sean Hutchinson is a partner in the international advisory firm Ready for Next, which works with private business entrepreneurs preparing for an ownership transition.  RFN’s programs are designed to drive higher transferable enterprise value in seven value domains over 3-5 years prior to transition.  RFN advisors have expertise in many industries, all hold the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) credential and have previous C-suite or ownership experience.

Sean has served on many corporate and non-profit boards over the last 30 years, often in a fiduciary capacity, including for his family board which governs the Hutchinson’s 67 year old manufacturing business.  His experience as a value growth advisor and thought leader has been directly informed by his board service and first-hand knowledge of how good governance can add significant enterprise value to a private company.  As an independent board member for multiple companies, he has also chaired compensation committees and acted as the Trustee of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan for a 90% employee-owned company.
