Overview

Both public and private companies are being constantly bombarded with cyber-attacks to the point where Boards are becoming desensitized to breaches unless they directly affect their company or industry sector. This is unsustainable. Cybersecurity is no longer an IT problem which can be relegated to cybersecurity professionals. Instead, it is a complex business problem which Boards need to understand, actively engage in, and oversee. However, moving the needle on Board oversight and governance remains elusive. Boards are challenged to understand and put these risks into a business context. They find it hard to comprehend remedies offered by cybersecurity professionals who in turn are frustrated by the lack of Board support. The result is a gap and lack of effective governance. The goal of this panel is to address solutions to close this gap and to provide Board members with a contextual framework within which they can understand and deal with this threat to their business.
