Christine Bassarab, PhD, is an organizational psychologist and co-founder of Board First Consulting, LLC, a women-owned board effectiveness consulting firm. Christine is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and has over twenty years’ experience designing and implementing strategies that enable boards, executive teams, and organizations to successfully navigate complex change, and develop more coherent decision-making processes to meet the evolving needs of their stakeholders. Her expertise includes corporate governance, strategic planning, board and leadership assessment, organization assessment and design, and mergers and acquisition integration strategy. Christine also has experience in fintech and financial services where she held several leadership roles transforming businesses to improve organizational performance. Previously, she worked at a nationally recognized board effectiveness consulting firm, as a senior board effectiveness consultant where she consulted with a cross-section of clients in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. She currently serves on the board of Women in Identity, a global nonprofit promoting diversity and inclusion in the development of digital identity products and services

           


William Carter

William Carter is the PDA DC Chapter Co-president, serves on a private company board, and has led an impressive career as a leader in tech and as an operator.  He is a C-suite operating executive known for accelerating growth and driving transformations across multiple technology companies. A strategic leader with deep familiarity across all business functions, William has a proven ability to deliver performance gains, lead merger acquisitions, and integrations, and deploy decision-making philosophies that improve the bottom line. Globally, he’s managed engineering, cybersecurity, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), business development, product management, and operations teams and was instrumental in bringing separate IPOs on NASDAQ and NYSE to market. He’s also launched and built companies powered by differentiated products and services.

Across a career that has included top operating, technology, and engineering roles, William earned a reputation for building healthy cultures and aligning corporate finances and personnel with customer requirements to achieve business goals. He’s been a trusted advisor and partner to CEOs and company boards, most recently as Founder of Advanced360 Solutions, a consulting firm assisting clients overcome business challenges associated with evolving technologies, with insights on strategic planning, cloud, and digital transformations, finance molding for technology, and vendor management.

In his most recent corporate positions, William transformed SMS/800 from an aging numbering registry service operating on antiquated systems into SOMOS, an advanced cloud-based provider of differentiated data management services like dynamic insertion, nationwide messaging, and the creation of a new marketplace for analytics and auctioning high-value numbering services. As Chief Operating Officer (2014-2020) and Chief Technology Officer (2012-2014), William grew margin by +38% and created a new for-profit subsidiary focused on further diversifying the product portfolio and revenues. He also originated and championed the company’s values-based culture, differentiating SOMOS from its peers and dramatically enhancing employee engagement, retention, and improved recruiting.
