Eric Burgess
Partner, Transaction Services
Grant Thornton

Eric is a Partner in the Transaction Services practice at Grant Thornton. He has developed extensive transaction experience serving as an adviser to multinational companies, middle market private equity firms and local corporations. He has been involved in more than 400 transactions with more than 100 different private equity investors, multinational companies, lenders and strategic corporate acquirers. Eric has significant M&A experience across many industries.

Eric's transaction experience includes financial due diligence for lenders, buyers and sellers (including quality of earnings analyses; cash flow drivers; investigating revenue stream and profitability drivers; examining operating cost structure and sustainability factors; reviewing quality and realization of assets and liabilities; identifying working capital requirements and negotiating positions; post-close working capital verification and adjustment mechanisms). He also has performed significant work in debt and equity financing consulting, post-acquisition accounting and integration, and financial and operational consulting.

           

Barrett Popst
Partner, Divestiture Advisory Services

Barrett is a Partner and a leader in the Divestiture Advisory Services practice at Grant Thornton with over 18 years of experience in financial statement analysis, financial and operational due diligence, project management and executive leadership. He has extensive experience in purchase, divestiture and financing transactions and has partnered with leading private equity, investment banking and venture capital firms globally to achieve successful results in hundreds of transactions across industries such as business services, healthcare, technology, retail, manufacturing, distribution and consumer products. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Barrett served as the Chief Financial Officer of several distribution companies and leverages his dual expertise of executive management experience along with mergers and acquisitions advisory for the benefit of his clients. He is also a CPA and adjunct professor at Southern Methodist University where he teaches a graduate level course in financial due diligence.

           

Gene Bazemore
Head of Industrials Group
Founders Advisors

Gene is Head of the Industrials Group with Founders Advisors based in the firm’s Dallas office. Gene has over 20 years of experience acting as both a principal and advisor to companies executing mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and debt and equity financings. Gene began his career as a process controls engineer and transitioned into investment banking at UBS in New York, where he specialized in industrial technology areas such as automation, instrumentation, sensors, and electronics. Gene developed significant transaction expertise while working for Houlihan Lokey in New York and other organizations such as Cooper Industries in Houston and AZZ Incorporated in Fort Worth.

Gene grew up in the Florida panhandle and graduated from Auburn University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. Gene was a Stern Scholar and graduated with an M.B.A. from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. His securities credentials include Series 79 and 63 securities licenses.

           

Robert Kibby

Rob leads the firm’s Corporate M&A group and has over 30 years of experience counseling publicly and privately held companies in a wide spectrum of M&A, recapitalization, and other corporate transactions.

He has broad industry experience, having worked closely with operating companies, independent sponsors, investment funds, and family offices focused on businesses in the following areas: technology, services, manufacturing, sales and distribution, restaurant, and financial and insurance services.

Rob earned his J.D. from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where he served as Senior Comments Editor of the Journal of Air Law and Commerce. He has a BBA in Accounting from Baylor University, having graduated with honors.

He is a frequent speaker on M&A topics and is active in several organizations, including the M&A Section of the Dallas Bar Association, where he has served as President, the DFW Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), where he has served as President, the Corporate Counsel Section of the Dallas Bar Association, where he has served as Chairman, and the DFW Chapter of the Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals, where he has served as President.

Among other awards, Rob has been recognized by Chambers USA and was named by D CEO magazine and ACG as the Dallas Attorney M&A Dealmaker of the Year in 2021.

Nichole Jordan

Nichole is Grant Thornton’s national managing partner of Geography and the managing partner of the firm’s Texoma region. She is also a member of the firm’s Senior Leadership Team. Nichole is responsible for coordinating firmwide strategy execution at the geography level and driving consistent results related to growth, talent engagement and culture.

An inclusive leader who is dedicated to building a diverse and equitable culture of belonging for all, Nichole previously served as the firm’s Central region managing partner. In that role, she focused on developing and retaining our people, driving market leadership, as well as empowering our teams to help our clients achieve their most critical business goals. Nichole led our more than 3,000 professionals in the Central region across 20 states and 19 offices to serve thousands of US and global clients within multiple industries. She also worked with our teams to deliver value and insights to clients in the region, ensuring that we took an enterprise-wide perspective to serving each client’s individual needs. She also led the region’s efforts to attract, retain, and develop our professionals, engendering a strong culture of collaboration, client service and community engagement.

She has had extensive experience working across the US as a client service partner, growth leader, industry leader and senior advisor on Fortune 500 clients. She has been deeply involved in developing the firm’s key alliance and channel relationships in a variety of markets, as well as building our network of executive peer advisory boards and other leadership forums around the country. Nichole also serves as the firm’s National Leadership Team DE&I Champion of the Veterans & Allies Business Resource Group.

Earlier in her career, Nichole served as Grant Thornton’s national managing partner of Markets, Clients and Industry, overseeing the firm’s strategic key client portfolio, industry sectors, regions, sales, market intelligence and customer analytics. Prior to that role, she was a member of the firm’s Partnership Board, while also serving as the national managing partner for Grant Thornton’s Banking and Securities industry practice, as well as the leader of markets and industries in metropolitan New York and New England.
